PX Ford Ranger 2012-2022
Ford launched the much better PX Ford Ranger in 2009, with production beginning in 2010. The new car was based on Ford’s T6 platform and marked a new era. The older, more work-focussed Ranger had won a lot of fans but as SUVs and Utes took hold, modernisation was the name of the game.
The PX era saw three version of the Ranger – imaginatively know as Mark I, Mark II and Mark III. These are also commonly referred to as PX1, PX2 and PX3. These three versions included a substantial facelift for the Mark II (PX2) with rolling additions in each model year until 2022.
Spec levels proliferated, with a three new engines from launch – two four-cylinder turbodiesels and a five-cylinder turbodiesel and further evolution and options during the model’s decade-long run.
PX also saw the Ranger move up in the sales figures, regularly topping or close to topping annual sales in Australia right up to the end.
As the new machine was built on Ford’s T6 platform, the Blue Oval was no longer sharing technology with Mazda. This platform also spawned the Everest SUV. For each major update, we have a separate page:
